Museums Association of Montana – Helping Hands Project
From one museum to another, the best practices for preserving artifacts and history comes with training and a willingness to learn. The Museums Association of Montana (MAM) created the Helping Hands project to unify the techniques and knowledge of museums across the state. Using MHF funds, MAM created four projects to aid rural museums in preserving their history. They provided education on the best practices in artifact care, display and interpretation, and on the importance of preserving not only their community’s past, but the heritage of the state of Montana.
Many of Montana’s smaller museums are run by caring, local individuals or retired professionals who are passionate about art or history. The Helping Hands project helped promote professionalism and collaboration to ensure the preservation of Montana history.
