WHO WE ARE

The Foundation for Montana History is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We raise money and provide funding for history and preservation projects across Montana.

OUR MISSION

The Foundation for Montana History is an independent, non-profit corporation preserving the rich legacy of Montana’s past – one story, one community, one project at a time. We grant funds, mobilize the generosity of donors and collaborate with individuals and organizations to explore and honor Montana's history.

HOW WE WORK

The Foundation for Montana History funds projects across Montana that preserve and honor the history of the Treasure State.

WHERE WE WORK

  • We have placed over four million dollars directly into Montana communities for historical projects

  • We have provided over $1.75 million in grant funding to more than 330 community-based history and preservation projects from Libby to Ekalaka

  • We funded, constructed, and donated to the State of Montana’s $1 million Lee C. McFarland Curatorial Center in Virginia City

  • We funded and constructed the $1.2 million Scriver Center in Helena
