History grants go to Adams Hotel, other projects

The Montana History Foundation announced the awarding of grants totaling $117,000 on Wednesday. One “standout” recipient is the Crow Language Consortium Dictionary project in Hardin, whose goal is design, review and publish the first professionally produced Crow dictionary. The Crow language is classified as “definitely endangered,” the Foundation said, with a 60 percent decline in school-age speakers of Crow between 1969 and 2002. That project was awarded $5,000 by the Helena-based foundation. Other $5,000 recipients include the historic Adams Hotel in Lavina and the Carter County Museum in Ekalaka, whose annual “Dino Shindig” was named the Event of the Year during last week’s Governor’s Conference on Tourism and Recreation.
