Helmville Community Club – Grandstand Restoration

Helmville’s 90-year-old wooden grandstand serves as the primary seating for Helmville’s rodeo-related events and is in desperate need of restoration. The Helmville Rodeo Grandstand bears witness to the ranching heritage of Montana as well as the Montana rodeo tradition. The two-day Labor Day Rodeo in Helmville takes place at the grandstand and often draws international visitors. Some notable visitors and performers at the grandstand include Fanny Sperry Steele, the Brander Sisters, and Trixie McCormick.

The grandstand was built in 1927, and needs to be restored so it may continue accommodating large crowds. The grandstand protects audience members from sun, wind, and rain, and Montana History Foundation funded the Helmville Community Club to restore the grandstand for more rodeos.
