Crazy Mountain Museum – Fjare Log Cabin Preservation
Oluf Fjare immigrated from Norway in 1897. He built the two-room log cabin between 1898-1900. It measures 14 ft. x 20 ft. and has dovetailed notch corners, displaying his true craftsmanship. He lived there his entire life, married, raised a family, and ranched sheep. Descendants of Oluf still live in Big Timber.
The Crazy Mountain Museum moved Oluf’s cabin from its current remote site to the museum grounds and restored the cabin to open it to museum visitors.
