Central Montana projects, including 10th St. Bridge and Hobson elevators, receive grants

Four organizations in Central Montana have received grant funding totaling $21,084 from the Montana History Foundation (MHF).In Great Falls, a $5,000 grant was awarded to Preservation Cascade, Inc. to help install balusters across the 10th Street Bridge. The Pride of the Judith in Hobson received a $5,000 grant to restore the siding and roofs of two-grain elevators. The twin towers of the prairie represent Central Montana’s agricultural history, according to the MHF. The Village of Loma, Inc. received a $5,000 grant to help re-roof the Collins Schoolhouse in Loma with a period-appropriate metal roof. And a $6,084 grant was awarded to the Fort Benton Community Improvement Association to help fund a Historic Structure Report of the I.G. Baker House. Since 2012, the MHF has awarded annual grants to projects and organizations that work to preserve and protect the historic legacy of Montana. This year, the Foundation reached a new record, giving away the largest total amount ever at $134,451, bringing all-time grant awards to $843,985, according to a press release.
