Uptown Works-St. Paul’s Methodist/Episcopal Church Window Project
Mark and Nicole Reavis with Uptown Works were determined to restore five beautiful stained-glass windows in the St. Paul’s Methodist/Episcopal Church in Butte, so they appealed to the Montana History Foundation for a grant. The church was built in 1899, and the historic building contributes to the Butte-Anaconda Historic Landmark District.
The glass in the stained-glass windows is held together by lead channels known as “came,” which is composed of a pliable lead that has moved over time and become brittle by metal fatigue. The project used MHF grant money to repair the “came” in the stained-glass windows. The Montana History Foundation was excited to help preserve Butte’s beloved historic district.
