Copper Village Museum & Art Center – Safety Hazard Correction
The Copper Village Museum and Art Center made structural and safety updates to protect the Marcus Daly History Society Museum and Archives. The 1890 structure, located in the basement of the Copper Village Museum and Arts Center in downtown Anaconda, Montana, once held the city hall, the fire department and the jail. In 1980, the building was purchased from the City of Anaconda and was eventually placed in the National Register of Historic Places.
A 2015 assessment prioritized two major safety issues to be immediately addressed: exit signs and exit doors. This project installed lighted exit signs and four new doors for fire exits and provided staff, volunteer, and visitor safety.
